Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy is distinguished from other types of massage and bodywork in that it addresses Trigger Points; irritated tissue that causes the person to feel that the pain is referring or originating from somewhere else within the body.  Trigger points can also cause sensations of burning, cold or grabbing.  Neuromuscular Therapy focuses on relieving trigger points by applying appropriate, static pressure - allowing the referral pattern or spot of tenderness to diminish in about 30 seconds, thus relieving pain, muscle spasms, tension, burning sensations, and stress.  Beneficial for clients who require deep tissue massage and who experience chronic pain, muscular & sports injuries, stress within the body, muscular contraction, etc.  Neuromuscular Therapy helps the client stay out of pain.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a gentle technique, via the use of sustained pressure, stretching, and skin rolling, designed to unwind and lengthen the fascia - a type of connective tissue that surrounds and penetrates every structure in our bodies from head to toe.  Constrictions in the fascia occur as we age, become injured, develop scar tissue, experience trauma, etc.  These constrictions cause the muscles to lose independent movement, thereby affecting the nearby muscles creating a domino effect, resulting in pain, postural distortions and limited range of motion.  Myofascial Release is a powerful massage modality that assists in correcting these dysfunctional patterns stored within the body.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM) is a gentle, rhythmic technique that emulates the action of the lymphatic system, stimulating lymph vessel contraction.  LDM reduces edema and increases lymph flow, boosts the immune system, detoxifies, speeds the removal of cellular waste, relieves fatigue, enhances tissue regeneration of scars and injuries, beneficial before or after surgery - including cosmetic surgery, speeds healing, removes wastes and toxins from skin cells improving lymph circulation enhancing the appearance of skin, especially on the face - removing facial puffiness and baggy eyes, also enhances the appearance of cellulite.  LDM is also commonly used for women who have had breast cancer and had some axillary lymph nodes removed.  LDM is contraindicated (not suitable) for acute inflammation, malignant tumors, thrombosis, or congestive heart failure.

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, non-invasive, yet powerful form of treatment, which involves an extremely light touch to the cranium, sacrum and other various parts of the body, as appropriate.  Via this light contact, the practitioner is able to pick up subtle patterns of motion within the body -- rhythms, pulls, pulsations, blockages, stagnant energy, etc., which emanate from deep within the core structures of the body.  The practitioner gently facilitates the unwinding and releasing of the areas of restriction, leading to a relaxed, balanced and healthy state physically, mentally and emotionally - accompanied by feelings of lightness, centeredness, clarity and ease.  CST can benefit most people of all ages, including babies.  It is valuable and beneficial for persistent problems -- from minor aches and pains to severe and persistent chronic health problems, including headaches and migraines, asthma, sinus problems, bronchitis, frozen shoulder, arthritis, sciatica, joint disorders, digestive problems, whiplash injuries, back and neck pain, persistent pain anywhere in the body, anxiety, insomnia, tension, lack of energy, depression, baby care (colic, feeding difficulties, etc.), learning disabilities, hyperactivity, autism, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, behavioral disorders, tantrums, obsessional behavior, dental/TMJ problems, head injuries, fatigue, any chronic illness or debilitating disease, and many others.  This profound healing process can influence the deeply embedded patterns of disease - both physical and psychological - which accumulate throughout life as a result of injury and illness which becomes held in the body tissues, leading to ill-health and dysfunction.  CST has the potential to transform these patterns of restriction and resistance, eliminating disease and restoring health.

Cranial Sacral Therapy:  $70.00/hour session.

Fibromyalgia Bodywork

Fibromyalgia is a condition characterized by chronic pain in the muscles and the soft tissue surrounding the muscles.  Treatment consists of releasing 11 - 18 specific pain point sites through active isometric neuromuscular re-education techniques, gentle stretching techniques, lymphatic drainage massage and aromatherapy.  A key component to managing Fibromyalgia is mastering the art of relaxation.  In addition to receiving massage on a regular basis, recommendations include exercising daily, yoga, meditation and aromatherapy.

TMJ Therapy

Temporomandibular Joint Therapy is a modality commonly used for TMJ dysfunction, migraine headaches, teeth clenching, sinus pain, ear popping and jaw pain.  Treatment consists of massaging the neck, exterior facial muscles, as well as the interior of the mouth.  Gentle massage is applied to the gums, the TMJ condial, the soft tissue within the roof of one's mouth and all of the musculature contained therein, via the use of 'examination' gloves.  This treatment relieves and alleviates tension stored within the jaw, face, and neck musculature.

Foot Reflexology

Each important organ and muscle is connected by a network of nerves to a tiny point on the foot where the energy terminates.  Microscopic crystalline deposits form at the nerve endings located on your feet, causing blockages in the energy channels/meridians that run throughout the body.  Specific, deep-compression foot massage is administered to 'break-up' and eliminate the crystalline deposits.  The results of this treatment are detoxification, improving restoration of vitality, balance and health.

Shiatsu Anma Therapy

Shiatsu Anma combines acupuncture energetics originating from Chinese Medicine and Japanese Massage.  Mainly using the thumbs, fingers and palms to apply pressure to soothe both the energetic channel points (tsubo points) and the acupuncture meridians on the body, Shiatsu treats specific conditions originating from an excess or deficiency in the Qi (chi) and blood of the internal organs.  The body is brought into balance and the healthy free flow of the QI (chi) is restored through the entire circulation of the yin and yang meridian system.

Pregnancy Massage

Alleviates back discomfort, sciatica, leg cramps, fatigue, insomnia, heartburn, constipation (via Reflexology), reduces edema, relieves stress & anxiety, and enhances relaxation.  While in a prone position (lying on stomach), full support of the abdomen is provided by utilizing a "sling" centered within the middle of the massage table.  The sling is fully adjustable to accommodate the continuous growth of the abdomen.

Some women during pregnancy are considered high-risk; please ask your OB-GYN or Mid-Wife for a prescription before receiving massage.

Massage Rates:  $50/half-hour *** $70/hour *** $105/1.5 hour session.

Japanese Facial Massage

Japanese facial massage - developed to improve one's health and longevity, emphasizing the prevention of problems rather than curing existing ones.  The aim of Japanese facial massage is unique - in that it is primarily concerned with the condition of the skin, subcutaneous musculature, what is referred to as ki, or the life-force energy, and to balance psychological conditions.  Specific and precise massage, while applying gentle pressure to facial meridians and tsubo (acupoints/acupuncture points) achieves balance in the facial skin, facial muscles and the related body.  Balancing the ki flow brings the body and emotions into balance simultaneously.  Japanese facial massage is extremely effective in the treatment of dry and oily skin, acne, wrinkles, age spots, and poor facial tone, as well as migraines, headaches and TMJ disorders.  Using a three-stage treatment consisting of cleansing, moisturizing, and energizing, Japanese facial massage stimulates the meridians and tsubo - balancing and harmonizing the condition of internal organs.  Important meridians originate and terminate in the face and several points at which ki passes from one meridian to the another.  Applying gentle pressure to the tsubo points, massaging the face and very gently stroking the meridians can improve ki flow.  This is referred to as the "energizing stage", thus activating facial nerves and increasing the ki flow to the face bringing about a natural face-lift effect and radiant beauty.  {Instructed by Shogo Mochizuki in 2002.  One of the most knowledgeable and experienced practitioners of Japanese massage and bodywork in North America}.

Rate:  $55.00/30-minute treatment ** $100.00/hour treatment.
